OnePlus 7: Here’s how OnePlus is going to compensate for the absence of 3.5mm headphone jack
OnePlus 7: OnePlus’ Pete Lau hinted at bundling an Apple AirPods-like wireless earbuds with the latest flagship smartphone.
OnePlus 7 is turning out to be a big upgrade over OnePlus 6T. The upgrade, however, will not be restricted to the specifications. While the previous leaks have revealed a new screen design with pop-up selfie camera, new reports reveal a fix for users who criticised the decision to remove 3.5mm headphone jack.
It may be recalled OnePlus had decided to skip 3.5mm headphone in OnePlus 6T. The company faced a backlash from its fans as OnePlus had long resisted the idea. The absence of 3.5mm headphone jack, however, allowed OnePlus to deliver fuller screen experience. OnePlus 6T also came with in-display fingerprint sensor.
Now, OnePlus is said to be bundling a true wireless earbuds with its new OnePlus 7 smartphone. The earbuds will be highly similar to Apple's AirPods and Samsung's Galaxy Buds. CEO Pete Lau hinted at the change in his recent Weibo post saying the wireless experience on its headphones could be more "polished". He added that the current headphones are "very good, but it can be even more extreme."
OnePlus 7 has made yet another unofficial appearance on the web ahead of the official launch. According to a comparison website Tiger Mobiles, OnePlus 7 will come with gradient design in three colour options - Black Yellow, Black Purple and Cyan Grey.
OnePlus 7: Expected specifications
OnePlus 7 is expected to come with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 855 processor with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of built-in storage. The phone is rumoured to sport three rear cameras including 48-megapixel, 20-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. On the front, the phone has a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
The smartphone is set to come with a 4,000mAh battery with a big 44W fast charger. On the software front, it runs on OxygenOS 9 base on Android 9.0 Pie, according to a recent listing.
