Oppo’s new navigation algorithm is extremely accurate
Oppo's new navigation algorithm called RTK will be commercialised next year.
Oppo today launched a new algorithm that improves the precision of its navigation technology by manifolds. Oppo says that its new navigation algorithm can achieve an accuracy of 1 meters without any additional equipment.
To give you a quick brief about new technology, Oppo's new navigation algorithm is called RTK which stands for Real-time Kinematic. It is based on carrier phases wherein it processes the observation data between measuring stations in real time and removes errors in a differential way to achieve higher precision. As per a report by GSM Arena, RTK collects information from various sources such as cell towers, GPS and other sensors inside a phone including the gyroscope and the accelerometer to derive extremely accurate results.
As per a report by Zhuanlan, this technology was mainly used for surveying and mapping in the past and it required special equipment. But now, thanks to Oppo's special algorithm, accurate location can be determined using the data collected by a smartphone.
Oppo has partnered with China Mobile in the pre-research stage for developing this algorithm. It has also joined China Mobile's 5G Precision Positioning Alliance. This technology will be commercialised next year.
