Amazon Prime Video has started its movie rental service in India

Spider-Man No Way Home and The Batman are now available on Amazon Prime Video in India, but not in the conventional way. Similar to Apple TV+ and certain other streaming services, Amazon has started its movie rental service for Prime Video subscribers in India, starting today. The movie rental service will come up with all the latest movies at various prices, and in various picture resolutions.

Hence, Spider-Man No Way Home is available for rental on the Prime Video Store at a price of Rs. 99, whereas The Batman is available as an early access movie at a price of Rs. 499. The rental service is different from the Channel service that was announced a while ago. For those who don't know, Amazon Prime Video also offers subscription plans to various other streaming services from its own store, and you can watch the content via the Prime Video app, or the web portal.

Note that the rental service is available for both Prime Video subscribers as well as those who don't have the membership. All of the Prime Video's movies available for members can be watched with a rental charge.

“Introducing movie rentals on Prime Video Store: Now rent latest popular movies in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, from India and around the world,” says Amazon in a latest tweet. These movies can be rented in HD resolution and 4H UHD resolution, depending on the availability. The rental service is accessible via the web portal as well as the Prime Video app on both phones and tablets.

Amazon also promised to release 40 more movies and originals over the course of the next two years.

Despite the movie rental service, Amazon has not changed the prices for its membership. Hence, you can still get the monthly subscription at a price of Rs. 179, while the 3-months subscription is available at a price of Rs. 459. The annual membership plan will cost you Rs. 1,499. Along with the Prime Video service, the membership will also offer access to the Amazon Prime service, Prime Music, and some more.
