Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger suffered from an outage that resulted in the services being unavailable for a few hours, according to outage tracking website, Downdetector. Users began to report their inability to connect to the service for a few hours in countries like the US and UK.

According to downtime tracker website Downdetector, Facebook services were unavailable for UK users for a few hours on Wednesday, with nearly 8,000 complaints coming in at around 8:30 PM BST, or 1 AM IST.  Users in India do not appear to have been affected by the outage.

Meanwhile, Techradar reported that Instagram was also down in the US, and the Downdetector page for the US was also showing user reports of the service being unavailable. Meanwhile, Messenger was also reportedly unavailable for a short while in the US, with around 4,700 complaints pouring in, according to the report.

While WhatsApp did not appear to have been affected as badly as the other services, according to the report, which suggests that it could be due to a small number of users on the chat app compared to other Facebook services in those countries.

Last month, Facebook's services suffered a massive outage that lasted several hours that resulted in Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Oculus, and other services being down for nearly seven hours. Users downloaded alternative apps like Signal, Telegram and Discord as Facebook struggled to fix an error in its DNS service configuration, and the company later published a blog post to explain the reason behind the downtime.
