World Emoji Day: iOS users just got some great Memoji customisation options

Some new emojis are also waiting for approval and should soon be making their way to our smartphones. These include the saluting face emoji, low battery sign, etc.

There's some exciting news coming your way on World Emoji Day, that's today, July 17. There are new emojis waiting approval and will come in the next major update - the Emoji 14.0. And that's not all, the public beta preview version of iOS 15 is now allowing some fun Memoji customisations as well along with nine new Memoji stickers. These new emojis that are waiting for approval should come to your smartphones by the end of this year or early next year and if you are on the public beta version of iOS 15, you will be able to use the new Memoji customisations right away.

New emojis coming our way later this year or early next year include a saluting face, a biting lip, a low battery emoji, and more. There's also a heart-hand emoji that is going to be a part of the next draft of emojis on Emoji 14.0. These new emojis are waiting for approval and that is expected to happen in September this year. Once that's done, these new emojis should come to both Android and iOS devices later in 2021 or in early 2022, so there's a bit you need to wait.

However, Apple users have something exciting to look forward to right now. To mark the occasion of World Emoji Day, Apple has rolled out more customisation options for you to dress up your Memoji stickers better. These new Memoji stickers with new customisation options are available in the public beta preview of iOS 15.

The new customisations coming to Memojis on Apple are divided into five categories. These include options to customise the Memoji with more than 40 outfits that will reflect your style, mood, the season in three different colours. There is multi-coloured headgear you can put on your Memoji to represent your favourite sports team or university. Apple has also brought in three different shapes of eyeglasses including heart, star, and retro shapes. You can also customise the colour for the frame and the lenses on the glasses. Memoji users will be able to pick two different eye colours on their Memoji and also add accessibility options like cochlear implants, oxygen tubes, or a soft helmet.

iOS 15 will also come with nine new Memoji stickers including a hand wave, a light bulb moment, a handshake, and more. If you are on the public beta for iOS 15 you can try these out right now.
