Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro to Honor View20: Smartphones with 48-megapixel camera

The latest camera trend in smartphones is the 48-megapixel camera. At present, there are four phones catering to different price segments. Here’s a list.

There's not just one but a couple of trending features on smartphones these days. In the camera department, the latest is boasting a 48-megapixel camera.

Honor launched the first 48-megapixel camera phone in India, which was soon followed by Vivo, Xiaomi and Oppo. So far, there are four smartphones - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro, Honor View 20, Oppo F11 Pro and Vivo V15 Pro. All four phones cater to different price segments in the market.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 7 Pro currently holds the title of the cheapest 48-megapixel camera phone. Redmi Note 7 (4+64) is priced at 13,999, while the 6+128 variant carries a price tag of 16,999. Xiaomi also uses a Sony IMX586 sensor for its 48-megapixel camera. It is accompanied by a 5-megapixel secondary camera, and a 13-megapixel selfie camera.

The smartphone offers AI portrait mode, handheld night photography, EIS, AI studio lighting and more. More specifications of Redmi Note 7 include a 6.3-inch FHD+ display, 4,000mAh battery, Snapdragon 675 SoC and MIUI 10 (Android Pie).

Honor View20

Honor View20 falls in the mid-range flagship segment with a price tag of 37,999. The smartphone other than its camera has a stylish design and a punch-hole camera. Honor View20 is also packed with interesting features like 3D motion-controlled gaming and 3D video shaping. It comes with a 4,000mAh battery, 6.3-inch FHD+ 'All-View' display, and Kirin 980 chipset.

The smartphone's rear camera module features a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor, and a TOF 3D camera. Honor also offers a night mode for low light photography. There's a 25-megapixel front camera for selfies.

Vivo V15 Pro

More than the 48-megapixel camera, Vivo V15 Pro's highlight is its 32-megapixel selfie camera. It also comes in the pop-up selfie mechanism. The smartphone has a triple-camera setup with a 48-megapixel Quad Pixel sensor, 8-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors.

Vivo V15 Pro features a 6.39-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 2.5D glass on top. It runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 675 processor paired with a 3,700mAh battery. Vivo V15 Pro with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage is priced at 28,990.

Oppo F11

The latest entrant in this smartphone camera trend is the Oppo F11. Launched along with the F11 Pro, the F11 is priced at 19,990 and it comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. Unlike the pop-up selfie camera on its pro version, the F11 comes with a waterdrop styled notch. It has dual 48-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras, and a 16-megapixel front camera. The smartphone is fuelled by a 4,020mAh battery and runs on Color OS 6.0.
