Epic Games had just announced that Apple was going to remove the ‘Sign in with Apple' option for players on Fortnite and that all players should keep their email IDs and passwords updated. However, the game studio has now announced that Apple has given Epic an ‘indefinite extension' on supporting ‘Sign in with Apple' for Epic Games accounts.

According to the previous announcement, all players who were signing in with their Apple IDs to use Epic services like Fortnite or the Epic Games store, would lose access once Apple removed the option. Epic had said Apple was going to remove that option by September 11. But now, Epic has an extension, of sorts.

Nonetheless, Epic is still recommending that players prepare their accounts for the potential removal of the “Sign in with Apple' option and still has an explainer on the site that shows you how to change your log-in credentials.

Apple told The Verge that it was not doing anything to stop the ‘Sign in with Apple' accounts from working with Epic Games.

So, clearly, there seems to be a discrepancy of sorts about who is telling the truth now. However, Epic has maintained that Apple was previously enforcing a shutoff and thus players should make alternate log-in arrangements.

As Apple and Epic's battle over App Store policies goes on about Fortnite getting kicked off the store for violating policies, be braced for some more back and forth.
