Google rolled out the November security patch for its Pixel series of smartphones yesterday. The security patch included Bluetooth, power, system UI and Wi-Fi improvements for the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro smartphones. The update also included audio, system UI and stability improvements for all Pixel smartphones, which includes the Google Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro smartphones. However, the update didn't include a security patch for the company's Pixel 3 series smartphones, which includes Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones. Now, word is that the Pixel 3 series smartphones have reached the end of their life-cycle as far as the software updates are concerned. This means that the Pixel 3 series smartphones will continue to work, they will not get any software support from Google, which could leave them susceptible to bugs and other hacks.

While that is the case, a report by 9To5 Google says that Google Pixel 3 series smartphones that were launched back in 2018 will get one last update. But this update will not arrive in the Pixel 3 series smartphones until the first quarter of 2022.

It is worth noting that Google last year skipped the November security patch for Pixel 2 series smartphones, which includes Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL smartphones. Instead, it released the last security patch for Pixel 2 XL smartphones. In addition to that, the Pixel 2 update also did not arrive on the same day as the December Feature Drop last year. The update arrived on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones a few days after the company rolled out the December Feature Drop.

Now, word is that Google is trying to do something similar with its Pixel 3 series smartphones. The only difference is that in the case of the Pixel 3 series smartphones, Google is expanding the duration of its last update, which is likely to help the company pack in more features, bug fixes and security updates in the Pixel 3 series' last update.
