Samsung introduces Galaxy Z Fold 2 foldable display smartphone: Check out specs, price, features here

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 smartphone is available in two colour variants, that is, Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze and it will go on sale starting September 18 in about 40 countries including the US and Korea.

Samsung on Tuesday launched the much-anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 2 smartphone. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the successor to the company's first-generation foldable display smartphone, the Galaxy Fold, which was launched in 2019.

The newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 2 smartphone is the company's biggest smartphone yet. It comes with a 7.6-inch display when unfolded, which is nearly 12% bigger than Galaxy Fold smartphone that features a 7.3-inch display. It is also one of the most expensive smartphones in the company's lineup. While the Galaxy Fold was launched in the US at a price of $1,980 ( ₹1.45 lakh approximately), the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has been launched at a price of $1,999 ( ₹1.46 lakh approximately).

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 smartphone is available in two colour variants, that is, Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze and it will go on sale starting September 18 in about 40 countries including the US and Korea. It will be up for pre-orders in select markets including the US and Europe starting September 1. Customised options will be available for users on Samsung.com in a total of 21 countries with four distinct colours for the hinge, which includes Metallic Silver, Metallic Gold, Metallic Red and Metallic Blue, starting September 1.

Additionally, Samsung will start taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 Thom Browne Edition starting September 1. It will be available for sale starting September 25. Notably, each Thom Browne Edition package will include the Galaxy Z Fold 2 smartphone, Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Buds Live and an array of fully customized accessories all featuring elements of Thom Browne's iconic design.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes with a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2208 x 1768 pixels for the main screen and a 6.2-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2260 x 816 pixels for the cover screen. It is powered by an octa-core processor that has been made using the 7nm process. This processor is coupled with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage space. The smartphone runs on Android 10.

Coming to the cameras, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 10-megapixel selfie camera, a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the cover and a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with super speed dual pixel auto-focus and OIS, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.

This 5G-enabled smartphone has Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, NFC and GPS for connectivity and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It has a 4500mAh dual battery with support for wired and wireless fast charging technology.
