Mi 11 series set to launch today: All you need to know about Xiaomi’s new flagship series
Xiaomi’s Mi 11 series is set to launch later this evening. Here are expected specifications and features of the new phones.
Xiaomi is set to unveil its Mi 11 smartphone series later today. One of the biggest selling points of the new flagship phones is the Snapdragon 888, Qualcomm's latest high-end chip. Apart from the latest chip, the Mi 11 series is expected to deliver improved specifications, especially in the camera department. Here is a brief round-up of everything we know about the Mi 11 series.
Performance
As said earlier, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC will be the USP of the new smartphone series. Qualcomm's processor brings an upgrade in terms of CPU and AI performance. The chipset has 6th Gen Qualcomm Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine, 3rd Gen Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G Modem-RF System, and triple ISP.
According to reports, Mi 11 will come with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB built-in storage. The base model could offer 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. A 4,780mAh battery is likely to power the new flagship series.
No charger in the box
Xiaomi has confirmed Mi 11 will not come with a power adapter in the box. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun in a post on Weibo said the move would help the company achieve its environmental goals. He further said the thickness of the box would be drastically reduced, which in turn would not only reduce the overall costing but also the material used.
Interestingly, Xiaomi was among the top smartphone brands, which mocked Apple for doing the same with the iPhone 12 series. Reports suggest Samsung will also skip charger in the retail box of its upcoming Galaxy S21 series.
Camera
Xiaomi recently teased a special night Video Mode that allows the handset to shoot better quality videos in low light. Reports suggest Mi 11 will offer an improved 108-megapixel camera on the back. The Pro model could come with much superior camera specifications.
Others
Xiaomi's Mi 11 is rumoured to come with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution and up to 120GHz refresh rate. The phone will have Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 out-of-the-box. Other expected features include Wi-Fi 6 and LPDDR5 RAM support.
