5 EVs at Auto Expo 2023

Tata Sierra EV

The Sierra EV marks the return of the Sierra lifestyle SUV in an EV avatar. Tata Motors didn't have much to reveal about the car other than the fact that it will enter production in 2025. The concept reveals the design this SUV will wear – slim light bars, large glasshouse area, and big wheels. The Sierra EV is also a 4-door SUV instead of the 2-door version from decades ago.

Tata Harrier EV

While the Sierra EV isn't coming anytime soon, Tata Motors showcased an EV version of the Harrier. With a new design having a new front and rear fascia, the Harrier EV with its dual motor setup offers an AWD drivetrain, ADAS features and an improved interior promises to offer a range of 500 Kms.

Hyundai IONIQ 5

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the only EV here that has been launched in India, with a starting price of Rs. 44.95 lakhs. The IONIQ 5 is based on the Kia EV6 and offers a retro styling on the exterior and modern plush interiors. The car has a 72.6kWh battery pack generating 216bhp power and 350Nm of torque. Hyundai claims an ARAI-certified range of 631km on a full charge and can charge the battery from 10-80 per cent in just 18 minutes with a 350kW DC charger.

MG4 EV

The MG4 EV comes in two different battery pack variants – one with a 51kWh capacity battery that will be capable of 350Km of range, and another with a 64kWh capacity battery that can deliver a range of 452km. It also features a full suite of ADAS features as well as a swanky interior. MG is yet to confirm bringing this EV to India.

Maruti Suzuki EVX

Lastly, it was Maruti Suzuki that unveiled its EV SUV concept, called EVX. With a butch yet futuristic styling, the SUV is said to have a 60kWH battery pack that Maruti claims can deliver up to 550Kms of range on a single charge. The EV will launch in India by 2025 and will compete with the likes of Mahindra XUV400 EV and Tata Nexon EV.
