Yet one of the surprise hits of this year became the Telugu-language period romantic drama film Sita Ramam. And after its successful theatrical run, it is now aiming for its OTT release. Sita Ramam set for OTT release

The movie released to theaters on August 5 and even with a good cast, it wasn't anticipated to be a big hit. But the movie quickly spread through word-of-mouth after a decent day one viewership and soon it began selling out cinemas. The movie has been acclaimed for the chemistry between the lead actors, stunning cinematography, memorable dialogues and strong performances by the supporting actors. And in the end, the movie has grossed Rs. 92.52 crores worldwide at the box office.

And all this at a time when romantic movies were being considered a dying genre by critics. What keeps this movie alive, however, is a simple yet emotionally-rich storytelling and a cast that does justice to the roles. The movie is set in the 1980s and follows Afreen, a Pakistan-based London resident who has been tasked to deliver the last letter of Ram to Sita in India's Hyderabad. The letter and the journey takes her back to the events of the 1960s where a mysterious love story was building between the two. The movie stars Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna, Sumanth and others.
