App in focus: Sonam Kapoor

Why should the Kardashians and Jenners have all the fun?, is probably what actor Sonam Kapoor thought when she launched her eponymous app on April 30. A notch above her Instagram page, where she posts an average of three pictures a day, the app adds to her endless gallery of selfies, photo shoots, fashion trials, and diet mantras.
Available on both Android and iOS, the app requires you to register with a valid e-mail id. Brace yourself: promotional e-mails are about to flood your inbox. A pre-recorded video plays each time you access the app where Kapoor flashes her trademark smile and welcomes you to her life.
And that is exactly what you get: visual evidence that Kapoor's life is just as extravagant as it looks from the outside. From pictures of her healthy breakfast and fitness routines as posted by her personal trainer, to a series of make-up and fashion tutorial videos that focus on the actor's looks, the home feed is like a real-time camera following her every move.
What's most interesting, however, is a section titled 'My Tribe'. Possibly the equivalent of Justin Bieber's Beliebers and Beyonce's Bee Hive, this section allows fans to show their love. Think customised fan mail for the digital age.
The interface and the design of the app is suave and goes with her luxurious images. Users also get an update when the actor schedules a live video chat.
Though it might seem that the app is similar to the ones by the Kardashians, it is still a first for India. (Only) If you are a Sonam Kapoor fan, you want this on your phone right now.
