From smartwatches to smart tablet covers, in the first official press conference of this year's Computex Taipei conference, Asus has unveiled enough new products to fill an entire exhibition all on its own.
Each of the new products has one thing in common, which according to the company's Chairman, Jonney Shih, is 'Zensation,' a term Asus has invented to highlight things that: 'Strike a compelling balance of power and beauty, and perfectly embody our 'In Search of Incredible' vision of creating seamless and connected digital lives for everyone.'
ZenPad tablets
In terms of its new ZenPad range of 7-, 8-, and 10-inch tablets, that means turning up the style as much as the performance. They boast 64-bit processors, 4GB of RAM, front-facing stereo speakers (plus virtual surround sound), native stylus support and great screens. And, in the case of the 8-inch variant, there are a number of accessories such as interchangeable back covers that can be selected to match an outfit or to add more features, such as greater battery life, or six extra speakers for proper hi-fi sound.
ZenFone Selfie
Taking the front-facing camera specification to another level, the phone has a 13-megapixel unit with a wide-angle lens above its 5.5-inch HD display, along with a two-tone flash. And there's another equally big camera on the back. And, as a final potentially ingenious touch, there's an integrated stand that swings down to prop the camera up (like a tripod) for timer shots or that can be used as a an extension for getting even better shots at arm's length.
ZenWatch 2
The first Asus smartwatch was very elegant and the new generation picks up where the last one left off. It now comes in two sizes (like the Apple Watch), it has a crownlike side button, and is available in three finishes -- gold, sliver and gunmetal. The larger watch also comes with an optional battery pack for extending life between charges. Asus also says that water and dust resistance is better on the second-generation model.
E1Z projector
Small enough to carry in a pocket or bag and with a rechargeable battery, the LED projector can connect to an Android device via micro USB rather than HDMI for impromptu movie screenings. Smartest of all, it can be used as a battery pack for recharging another device when not in use.
Zen AiO
An updated range of all-in-one Windows PCs that are elegant and powerful, features on offer include Intel's clever RealSense 3D camera for gesture control and facial recognition and support for the latest generation USB 3.1 Gen 2, so basically very fast data transfer speeds.
