Hollywood movies and shows have captured a certain segment of the Indian demographic since the early 2000s, but it was a very small niche. And as a result, India's access to these movies was very limited and the only ones which made their way to TV channels were the popular mainstream ones. However, with the entry of OTT platforms like Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime Videos and others, the audience for international content has also become wider, which is underlined by the recent box office success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. And to entice the Indian audience, Netflix will soon be releasing its highly anticipated Blonde movie, which tells the story of Marilyn Monroe but from fictional lenses. Read on to find out when and where it will be released.

Blonde, a fictional story on Marilyn Monroe to release on Netflix soon

Ever since it went into production in 2019, the movie has been turning heads. From its glamorous cast of Ana de Armas, Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Julianne Nicholson and others to the experienced producer table of Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tracey Landon, Brad Pitt and Scott Robertson, the movie was seen as an ambitious project. Now, the movie is set for its OTT release on September 23, 2022 on Netflix.

As mentioned above, the movie is a fictionalized biography of Marilyn Monroe. The story revolves around her traumatic childhood, stunning on-screen performances, exploitation and medication addiction. Due to its graphic content, the movie has been given a rating of NC - 17 (No one 17 and under admitted) by the Motion Pictures Association (MPA).

The movie is directed by Andrew Dominik who is known for movies and shows like Killing Them Softly, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and the Mindhunter series. The movie is based on a novel called Blonde (2000) written by Joyce Carol Oates.

Upon being asked about her opinions on the screenplay, Oates said in a tweet, “I have seen the rough cut of Andrew Dominick's adaptation & it is startling, brilliant, very disturbing & [perhaps most surprisingly] an utterly "feminist" interpretation... not sure that any male director has ever achieved anything like this”.
