Yes, BSNL Broadband is free and what is more, the period is up to four months. This is for its Bharat Fibre and DSL subscribers, but there is a big catch. Know what else you would have to buy.

BSNL Broadband is right now giving the customers of its Bharat Fibre and DSL connections a free data offer. Broadband subscribers can now enjoy up to four months of free services. This offer was initially applicable for customers in Maharashtra but now has been extended for all BSNL Broadband subscribers within India. Sounds tempting, doesn't it? As always, there's a catch that you have to abide by in order to avail it.

BSNL Broadband will only give you the four months of free subscription if you are willing to purchase its long-term subscription plans. The offer is applicable on the rental plan of 36 months, which when added with the 4 months of free service makes it a 40-months long term plan. The free months are also applicable on lower duration plans.

BSNL Broadband gives 4 months free: How to avail

Reported originally by Telecom Talk, the free extra months are also available with long term plans of lower validity. BSNL Broadband Subscribers who buy the 24 months plan will get 3 months of additional free service. The annual plan with 12 months validity will now offer 13 months of validity, which means you get an extra month of service for free.

Note that these BSNL Broadband plans are available for Bharat Fibre and DSL subscribers across the country. The offer is also applicable for subscribers of BSNL landline and Broadband over Wi-Fi (BBoWiFi).

BSNL broadband plans now start from ₹449 across the country. In order to compete with Airtel Xstream broadband and Jio Fiber broadband, BSNL has also rolled out competitive plans at higher prices. These include a ₹799 plan, a ₹999 plan, and a ₹1,499 plan. While BSNL does not offer free subscription to OTT apps and other services like its rivals, the extra free months on the long term plans is the only benefit for customers on the long run.

Note that these BSNL broadband plans are now regularized, which means they are not subject to change like they used to previously.
