Elon Musk has completed his takeover of Twitter, and this has evolved into a mega event. Musk and Twitter are all over the news, and some funny tweets have gotten the media talking. Musk even came in to the Twitter headquarters with a sink in his hands, to let the moment “sink in”. He also made a series of tweets to suggest what his plans are for Twitter. That said, nothing official has been said and we have to wait for Twitter to come up with an official announcement.

With Elon Musk taking over the microblogging site, Twitter is expected to change a lot and this is what we think could happen with the blue bird.

Twitter under Elon Musk: What to happen next?

- Elon Musk has long been wanting Twitter to promote free speech. In one of his latest statements, Musk said “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence. There is currently great danger that social media with splinter into far rightwing and far left wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.”

Hence, Twitter policies could change wherein everyone is allowed to express their opinion without offending someone. He does not want it to be a hellscape.

- Musk had also spoken about creating the X app – a place for everything. It is said that the X app is where Musk could have Twitter's micro blogging along with everything else. Will Twitter try to take on Meta's social media platforms? Will it have integration with Tesla and Space services?

- Musk wants Twitter to be a better place for advertising. He says, “I also very much believe that advertising, when done right, can delight, entertain and inform you; it can show you a service or product or medical treatment that you never knew existed, but is right for you. For this to be true, it is essential to show Twitter users advertising that is as relevant as possible to their needs, Low relevancy ads are spam, but highly relevant ads are actually content.”

- Elon could also promote citizen journalism on Twitter. “A beautiful thing about Twitter is how it empowers citizen journalism – people are able to disseminate news without an establishment bias.” Hence, we could see Twitter bringing local news sources to the limelight.
