eSHRAM is a portal developed and operated by the Government of India in a bid to create a national database for unorganised workers. Under this portal, eshram.gov.in, the registered workers will be enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). As part of this programme, the Ministry of Labour & Employment will bear the premium for the first year. eSHRAM registration is a must though.

The eSHRAM portal requires workers to have an Aadhaar card along with a Aadhaar linked mobile phone number and a bank account number in order to go ahead with the registration process. In fact, the process for the registration on eSHRAM is extremely easy.

Interested workers can register through the eSHRAM portal directly -- eshram.gov.in. The process require bank details so as to ensure an easy processor of transferring the benefits directly to the worker's account under the social security schemes, or any benefits by the Central/State government.

- To register the eSHRAM portal, login to the official website at eshram.gov.in.

- Click on the 'Register on the e-SHRAM' link on the home page.

- Enter the Aadhaar-linked mobile number and captcha code and click on send OTP.

- Follow the subsequent instructions to complete the registration process.

As part of this Yojana, there are over 38 crore unorganised workers in the country who will be registered under one portal. Interested people should know that the registration process is completely free. Workers do not have to pay anything for their registration at Common Service Centres (CSCs), or Regional Offices of State Government.

Interested candidates should also know that there is no income criteria for registering on the eSHRAM portal. However, the candidate should not be an income tax payer.
