Facebook Dating gets 3 new features - Lucky Pick, Audio Dates, Match Anywhere
- Facebook Dating might not seem as popular when compared to Tinder but the company is investing resources in it. Facebook is adding three new features to its dating app.
When it comes to dating apps, Tinder and Bumble top the list. However, there are more competitors in the space in the form of the Facebook Dating app, which was introduced in April this year. The company seems to be committed to developing its online dating app as it adds three new features including Audio Dates, Match Anywhere and Lucky Pick. For reference, variations of all these features are offered by rival apps. These have also seen an increase in demand while people are stuck in isolation during the pandemic.
The latest development comes from a Twitter thread from Facebook Communications' Alexandru Voica. Audio Dates is one of the most notable additions to the Facebook Dating app. The Audio Dates feature in Facebook Dating is nothing groundbreaking. As the name suggests, it allows a user who is matched with another user to send an invitation for a voice call, which can then be accepted or rejected. By contrast, rival apps go one step further and have the video chat feature built into their apps.
Coming to Match Anywhere, it lets users set up two additional locations to look for matches. Hence, allowing the users to hop between different places. It will be helpful for people who want to be in another location virtually. This is similar to Tinder Passport, which allows users to virtually be anywhere in the world and look for matches in their preferred location. However, this is a paid feature on Tinder.
Lastly, Lucky Pick will let you consider matches that don't quite fit your typical preferences. As per the Twitter thread, this should help those who don't have hard and fast preferences have an opportunity to still keep their options open. Facebook Dating is still looking to expand its reach, and these new features should help their case while users are still stuck in their homes because of the pandemic.
