Facebook on Wednesday launched a bunch of new features to help users in India celebrate Diwali.

The first feature that Facebook has launched is Challenge your friends and Family. As a part of this feature, users can share a photo or a video of how they are celebrating Diwali at their homes with their families with the hashtag #DiwaliAtHomeChallenge. Users can create a DIY video of how to recycle light bulbs, candleholders, diyas and lanterns, and challenge their friends to share their Diwali related DIY projects by using #DIYDiwaliChallenge.

Users can start the challenge by simply entering a hashtag in English that ends in the word ‘challenge'. To use this feature all users need to do is create a new Facebook post. Alternatively, users can tap on the Try It button when they see other challenge posts in their Facebook NewsFeed. Users can challenge their friends by tagging them in their posts.

The second feature is Dress up your Avatar. With this feature, users can make their own short-form text posts even more expressive by sharing a special edition Diwali-themed Avatars Background. Users can type their message in any language over a colorful background with their personalised Avatar to match the theme.

To use this feature create an Avatar from your mobile device > go to Create Post” composer on Android or iOS > click Background Color > select the Diwali background and you are all set.
