Flipkart on Monday said that its Wholesale application registered a 75% month-on-month growth in customer base since launch in September. The e-commerce company added that the platform posted 90% month-on-month growth in transactions.

Flipkart Wholesale app currently offers fashion products including clothing, footwear and accessories to retailers across 23 cities. The company recently launched the grocery category in NCR on the app.

According to Flipkart, the growth suggests an increasing adoption of e-commerce in the country, especially in smaller cities. The company added that one in every five customers on Flipkart Wholesale is from tier 2 or tier 3 cities.

It further pointed out that “Best Price cash-and-carry” was one of the biggest highlights of the new platform.

“E-commerce adoption by Best Price members grew over 10X across 29 stores, with smaller towns such as Meerut, Kota, Guntur, Rajahmundry, Aurangabad, Karimnagar, Amravati and Vijayawada accounting for a large part of the e-commerce traction at Best Price, which signals a surge in Bharat transacting online,” the company said in a release.

Flipkart also highlighted Kiranas and MSMEs also embraced its new platform in large numbers.

Flipkart Wholesale has already recorded 50% month-on-month growth in fashion category suppliers and enabled 2.5 lakh listings on its platform since its launch, the company added.
