Get EPFO UAN Card, Pension Payment Order, Scheme Certificate services on DigiLocker

Now, EPFO subscribers can get EPFO UAN Card, Pension Payment Order, Scheme Certificate services on DigiLocker.

Good news for EPFO subscribers. Now, they can get EPFO UAN Card, Pension Payment Order, Scheme Certificate services on DigiLocker, according to the latest announcement. The social security administering body, Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), via a tweet, has notified all its subscribers of the new services that they can avail via DigiLocker. On the EPFO Twitter handle, a tweet says, "Members can download UAN Card, Pension Payment Order (PPO) and Scheme Certificate through #DigiLocker.”

What is DigiLocker: For those of you who are new to the service, DigiLocker is one of the key initiatives under the Indian government's Digital India flagship program that is aimed at transforming India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. Targeted at the idea of paperless governance, DigiLocker is a platform for the issuance and verification of documents and certificates in a digital way, thus eliminating the need for physical documents.

The Indian government's Digilocker platform is available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. It can be used to verify and store various documents including Aadhaar Card, Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate, Vehicle Registration documents, Driving Licence, Ration Card, SSC Mark Sheet, Resident Certificate, Caste Certificate, and Income Certificate among others. According to the Digilocker website, 79.60 million users have registered to the platform and 4.52 billion documents have been issued using it, by around 1340 issuers.

Now, EPFO has announced that its subscribers will be able to download three more documents using DigiLocker. These documents are:

-- UAN card

-- Pension Payment Order (PPO)

-- Scheme Certificate

It is worth noting that in order to avail the above-mentioned services on DigiLocker, EPFO subscribers need to register and verify themselves on DigiLocker separately. EPFO subscribers will also need to fetch the above-mentioned documents on DigiLocker to use specific services.

EPF interest: Separately, the government has also announced that it will give out the interest received on Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to 6.5 crore EPFO account holders in the country. The interest received on PF by the EPFO subscribers was expected to be credited into PF account holders' accounts by August end.

How to check EPF account balance: EPFO account holders can check their account balance by typing 'EPFOHO UAN' in their message box and sending it to 7738299899. This facility is available in ten Indian languages including English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali.
