Google, last month, rolled out e-SIM on iOS for new Google Fi customers. And now, nearly a month later, the company has extended the feature to its existing customers using iPhones.

Simply, all customers who have been using the company's wireless network on their iPhone can replace the Google Fi nano SIM with a downloadable eSIM.

This functionality, as 9To5 Google notes, is available in version 2.5 of the Google Fi companion that was released yesterday. The release notes for the update say that “You can now activate Fi via eSIM on select iPhone devices.” Of course, users need to have one of the newer iPhone models that come with dual SIM support. The list includes the iPhone SE 2020 version, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone 11 series.

It is worth noting that while Google has rolled out the update to its Google Fi companion app, some Reddit users reported that they had to uninstall the companion app and then follow the instructions on the Google Fi website on adding cellular plans to their iPhones to get their Google Fi eSIM to work.

Interestingly, the official help page for Google Fi still notes “ iOS eSIM activation only works for new users who sign up for Google Fi”. The company, however, had added the list of supported iPhone models to the page.
