Instagram pin grid posts feature likely coming soon
Instagram is reportedly testing a new feature that will let users pin their favorite posts on the top of their profile.
Meta owned photo sharing app, Instagram is testing a new feature that will let users pin posts on their profile. The new tool will allow users to pin selected posts (image or video posts) at the top of the profile so that they stay even after users upload a new image or reel. The new feature is currently in the testing phase and hence, is available for only selected users. These users can see a “Pin to your profile” option upon tapping on the three dot menu next to posts.
The platform confirmed the news to TechCrunch as saying, “We're testing a new feature that lets people feature posts on their profile.”
The pinned post feature was also spotted by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi in January 2022. He shared about the development via Twitter. Sharing the screengrab of the feature, he wrote, “#Instagram is working on the ability to pin posts in your profile.”

As of now, Instagram has the pin Stories feature to their profile, but this new feature will expand this ability to posts as well. Currently, users can highlight a post in a Story and then pin that story to their profile. It will be similar to Twitter's “Pin to your profile” feature that allows users to pin a tweet to the top of their personal feed.
With the new feature rolling out, audiences would get to see the highlighted post or favorite post first. Currently, the new Instagram posts are automatically shown first and the old ones get pushed down based on the upload date/time.
Instagram is testing other features as well
Not only this, but the photo sharing app is also working on other features that will make the platform more user-friendly. Instagram is also working on a TitkTok like Template feature that will let users to plug their own photos or videos in a preset format.
