Instagram, WhatsApp services DOWN again
Instagram and WhatsApp were detected to be down on the late hours of November 19. Here are all details.
Instagram and WhatsApp went down once again. On the late hours of November 19, both of Meta's social media platforms were unavailable for a substantial number of people around the world. A notable number of complaints crept up on Downdetector between 10 pm to 11:30 pm IST. The outage was, however, sorted after the 1.5-hour period and both services are now working normally.
It was reported that the outage affected nearly 4000 people around the globe, and struck all of Meta's services. Apart from Instagram, users on WhatsApp and Facebook also faced issues, although the issue on these platforms were not as serious as the one on Instagram. Meta and Instagram haven't revealed the reasons behind this outage.
Instagram, WhatsApp were down again
Several users took to Twitter to report about the issues. "Another day another Meta outage. Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are all DOWN. #GetItTogetherMark,” wrote one user. “Instagram keep getting down over and over again,” wrote another.
While this outage only affected a few users around the world for a brief period, it was nothing compared to the famous 7-hour outage that all of Meta's services faced a month ago. Due to a technical issue on Meta's side, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and all of Meta's services were down for 7 hours straight.
Soon after that mega outage, Mark Zuckerberg announced rebranding the company from Facebook to Meta, and revealed his plans to unleash the metaverse of Facebook services among users. The metaverse trends quickly caught on with other companies, including Microsoft presenting a metaverse version of its business suite services.
And as part of simplifying things, Meta's Instagram recently announced that it is going to shut down the Threads app from both Android and iOS. Threads was conceived back in 2019 to take on Snapchat, letting users sends stories and chat with their Instagram friends from the app without opening the main app. The app made it easier to quickly post stories and send it to select friends. However, it did not find enough traction with Insta users.
