JioBook will be a Windows laptop! After initial suggestions of Jio's first laptop expected to be running Chrome OS, it now seems that Jio wants to join the Windows laptop club with its JioBook laptop. The device has just been noted by a tipster passing through certifications, revealing Windows 10 as its operating system of choice. It is surprising to see Jio skipping the new Windows 11 OS in its early stage of development.

The leak comes courtesy of Mukul Sharma via a 91Mobile report. Other than Windows 10 confirmed for Jio's first laptop, it also seems that the laptop could be manufactured by a Emdoor Digital Technology Ltd. This means the laptop will be manufactured by someone else and will rely on Jio's branding. No other information surfaces out of this leak yet.

JioBook leaks again

Previous reports had suggested that the JioBook is essentially an entry-level laptop with basic specs to be able to do simple tasks. The laptop could be running on a MediaTek MT8788 chipset , that managed to score 1178 points on single core ratings and 4246 points in multi core ratings. The laptop had been spotted with 2GB RAM onboard.

A leaked image of a prototype JioBook laptop also revealed a simple Lenovo ThinkPad inspired design with a compact keyboard deck and a display surrounded by thick bezels. The image showed the laptop having a backlit keyboard, which is still unheard of in the affordable laptop category. Additionally, it was running a forked version of Windows where the interface was vastly different from the regular Windows 10 PCs we have seen so far.

Other than the JioBook laptop, Jio is also said to be working on a JioPhone 5G smartphone. Expected to be pitched as the successor to the JioPhone Next smartphone, this one will launch at the same time as the Jio's 5G network in the country. Leaks suggested that the JioPhone 5G could be based on the Snapdragon 480 chipset, feature a 6.5-inch LCD display, 13MP dual cameras, and a new design. The phone is said to offer 5G bands, all of which are likely to be the bands that Jio's 5G network will operate upon.
