Windows 11 was first rolled out in late 2021 and since then it has received quite a few updates as Microsoft sought to battle some glitches and roll out enhancements. However, these Windows 11 updates can also lead to some unforeseen results. This has happened to the latest Windows 11 update - KB5014697 - which was rolled out on June 16. It is now causing a serious issue with some computers and users may actually not be able to even use all the devices they want with their PCs.

As soon as this latest Windows 11 update was rolled out, Microsoft discovered a new issue with it. It affects the ability to use the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. The hotspot feature, that allows users to share their internet connection with other devices through stopped working after this Windows 11 update. "After installing KB5014697, Windows devices might be unable to use the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. When attempting to use the hotspot feature, the host device might lose the connection to the internet after a client device connects," Microsoft informed in a blog post. Microsoft is currently working on a permanent solution to fix this issue. But till the company rolls out a solution it has offered a temporary fix for the WiFi Hotspot failure. "To mitigate the issue and restore internet access on the host device, you can disable the Wi-Fi hotspot feature. If you need to use your PC as a hotspot before Microsoft releases a fix for the issue, it may be worth uninstalling the latest Windows Update." Microsoft suggested.

Yes, there is no other solution except to roll back your Windows 11 to the previous version if you want your PC to work along with the hotspot feature. This applies to all those users who have updated their PCs to the latest update of Windows 11 rollout on June 16.

And when is Microsoft expected to roll out the next Windows 11 update with the hotspot issue fixed? The company has not really shed any light on that aspect.
