McDonald's has struck a partnership with daily deal site LivingSocial to launch what they're calling the largest national fast food daily deal program to date and offering Big Macs for half the price.

While traditionally sites like Groupon and LivingSocial recruit independent businesses and promote local merchants, this latest partnership ups the ante in daily deal groups, with a major global player signed on to use the service.

Starting this week, McDonald's USA is offering a $13 voucher booklet to members of LivingSocial, which is redeemable for five Big Mac sandwiches and five large French fries -- a $26 dollar value.

Members who purchase the deal receive hard copy vouchers in the mail which can be redeemed at McDonald's outlets across the US.

McDonald's customers will also be seeing more LivingSocial ads in restaurants as part of the new alliance.

Meanwhile, LivingSocial's biggest rival and top daily deal site Groupon announced it sold more than 650,000 holiday deals between Black Friday and Cyber Monday -- an increase in 500 percent compared to last year.
