MediaTek Helio G25, Helio G35 gaming chips for mid-range phones launched
MediaTek has launched two new gaming chips for mid-tier phones. Here is everything you need to know.
MediaTek on Tuesday announced the launch of its new gaming chipsets, Helio G25 and Helio G35. The new processors are aimed to deliver faster and smoother performance on smartphones.
“Mobile gaming is now the preferred mode of entertainment across market segments, and MediaTek expanded its G-series to meet the huge demand for competitively priced, mainstream gaming smartphones,” said Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager, Wireless Communications Business Unit, MediaTek said in a release.
“The MediaTek Helio G25 and G35 chips offer smartphone users premium features included in our other G-series family, including enhanced power efficiency, optimum performance, seamless gameplay, and enhanced photography,” he added.
MediaTek's new processors are powered by ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs. The clock speed is up to 2GHz on Helio G25. The G35 chip has up to 2.3GHz operating speed. The two processors come with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPUs. Both MediaTek Helio G25 and G35 are based on 12nm FinFET production process. The chips also have the company's HyperEngine power management module which is said to help better battery life, especially during long gaming sessions.
MediaTek's new chips also focus on improving the camera experience. For instance, the G25 supports a single camera mode of up to 21-megapixel at 30fps. The G35 supports up to 25-megapixel cameras and enhanced camera features such as simulated bokeh effects.
The chips come with integrated 4G LTE modems to bring dual 4G SIM support. It also has Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5 support.
Unlike the G90 series, G25 and G35 chips are aimed at the mid-range phones. The smartphone running the latest chips will be available in coming months.
