New WhatsApp video controls, group call shortcuts rolled out to users

WhatsApp video controls, group call shortcuts: Another day and another WhatsApp feature rolled out. WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world and it is trying to ensure it stays that by adding new features to its platform, especially as Telegram and Signal are hard on its heels. WhatsApp has already confirmed that it has started testing a Yellow Pages-like feature called Business Directory. Recently, reports detailed that the company is also working on a WhatsApp feature that will enable users to share images and stickers. Now, new reports have hinted towards two new WhatsApp features that are in the works at the Facebook-owned messaging app and are being rolled out on WhatsApp beta channel.
New WhatsApp Video Controls
First, WhatsApp feature is called the New Video Controls and it is available in WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.21.190.11. WhatsApp New Video Controls features brings a bunch of functionalities to the messaging app's interface when users share a video. As of now, WhatsApp displayed only the send option for longer videos. And for shorter videos, WhatsApp shows a toggle button that enables users to convert videos into GIFs.
Now, a WhatsApp update has been rolled out to its iOS beta app that gives users more minuscule control over the video. Firstly, there is a button on the opposite side of the GIF toggle button that enables users to mute a video and hence share videos without any sound. There is a tile right next to the Video Mute button that gives out information about the video's size and length. WABetaInfo, which reported the feature, said that every time a user edits the video, the size and the length of the video is updated immediately.
WhatsApp Group Call Shortcuts
The second feature is called Group Call Shortcuts and it is available on WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.21.19.15. The blog site said that WhatsApp's Group Call Shortcuts feature brings the ability to quickly place group calls from group cards. The messaging app has added group video call and group video icons in the group card section of its user interface. Interestingly, these shortcuts were already available for individual chats and now WhatsApp is finally bringing this feature to group calls. If you don't see these shortcuts for group cards, it is possible that the feature is not available for you and you need to wait for a new update. And if the button is not tappable, it means that no one, except administrators, can interact with the group.
