OnePlus 6: Specifications, design and more revealed ahead of May 16 launch
Here’s the clearest look at the much awaited OnePlus 6 ahead of the official launch.
We are just a couple of days away from the OnePlus 6 global launch and there's no stopping to the leaks spilling key details of the latest OnePlus flagship smartphone. While OnePlus has already confirmed several features, a new listing on Amazon Germany (removed now) has given the clearest look of the much-awaited smartphone.
Tech website WinFuture, which first spotted the listing, has published a few renders of OnePlus 6, from all angles. And as expected, OnePlus 6 is a stark contrast to its predecessor OnePlus 5T, thanks to what appears to be an edge-to-edge display, notch on the top, and ultra slim profile.
Other minor differences that you may have noticed is that the alert slider has been shifted to the right edge, besides the vertical dual-camera setup and a cubical fingerprint sensor on the back.
The images also confirm a few known things such as retention of the 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port and a glass back panel.
The website claims the base version of OnePlus 6 will come with a Mirror Black glass back panel while the top-end model featuring 8GB RAM will have a matte finish. This means, if you want a non-reflective OnePlus 6, you will have to shell out a some extra money, though the 8GB RAM is a big bonus. According to WinFuture, both the front and back are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
Apart from design, the website also managed to get hold of a few key specifications of OnePlus 6, not revealed by the company so far. For instance, OnePlus 6's dual-camera setup will be a combination of a 16-megapixel and a 20-megapixel sensors with Optical Image Stabilisation.
The smartphone will be running Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, but let's not forget OnePlus 6 is one of the rare handsets that currently supports Android P Beta.
Other important information that the listing gives away is that the phone will come with IP67 or IP68 certification for water and dust resistance — a key feature missing from predecessor OnePlus 5T.
OnePlus 6 looks like a big upgrade over OnePlus 5T. While you can expect incremental specifications upgrade and if the recent leaked images and the latest Amazon listing are anything to go by, OnePlus 6 may very well be the best design OnePlus has brought out thus far.
