Zee5, a major OTT platform, announced its lineup for the year 2022 and revealed that it will launch more than 80 new titles in the calendar year. The 80+ titles will span across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, and Bengali languages. The lineup breakdown includes more than 40 movies and over 40 shows for the year. The extensive and exciting lineup has both new big budget shows as well as new seasons of popular shows including Taj, Kashmir Files, Jhund, Pitchers 2, Tripling, Sunflower and more. Along with it, Zee5 has also packed some big surprises for the audience. To know the highlights from the announcements and find out which movies and shows you will get to watch this year, read on.

Making the announcement, Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, Zee5 India, said, “We are enthused by the response that Indian OTT viewers have given to Zee5, it has further encouraged us to curate a slate that caters and connects to the audiences across India. We have increased our investments with a concerted focus on regional content as we stand open to partnerships with global studios, independent creators, and premium content production houses across regions and languages.”

Zee5 releases its lineup of 80 new titles for 2022

The biggest surprise coming from the revealed lineup is the long-awaited second season of Pitchers. The Viral Fever (TVF) produced first season of the show became a cult classic and fans have been asking for another season. Finally, after seven years, Pitchers season 2 will finally come out on Zee 5. Similarly, TVF produced Tripling is also set to get its second season. Other popular shows which got the nod for a second season are Sunflower, Abhay, Rangbaaz and Never Kiss Your Best Friend and more.

Apart from new seasons, Zee5 new titles also include some fresh shows. Among them, the biggest is going to be Taj, labeled as an epic tale of succession, which stars Naseeruddin Shah and Sandhya Mridul. Crime thriller Forensic, romantic thriller Duranga and Sonali Bendre starrer The Broken News will also entertain the audience. The list of movie releases on the platform is also quite exciting with The Kashmir Files set for its digital debut on the platform along with Amitabh Bachchan's Jhund and John Abraham starrer Attack.

The list of regional content is also pretty big with its Tamil lineup including Nilamellam Ratham which has been written and developed by Vetri Maaran. The Tamil list includes SR Prabhakaran's Kolaigara Kairegaigal, Vasanthabalan's Thalaimai Seyalagam, AL Vijay's Five Six Seven Eight and Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi's Paper Rocket. Similarly, the Telugu slate has Kinnerasaani, Recce 2, ATM Prema Vinam, Maa Neella Tank and Aha Naa Pellanta. Finally, the Bengali lineup brings Swetkali, Gangtokey Gondogol, Kantaye Kantaye, Shikarpur and Raktakarabi.
