Reliance Jio Fiber subscriber count dipped in January 2020
Yet Reliance Jio maintains a clear dominion in the industry.
Reliance Jio Fiber saw its subscriber count dip in January 2020 for the first time since the company was launched back in September 2019.
According to a report by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio Fiber witnessed a drop of almost 20,000 subscribers in January 2020. The company had 860,000 subscribers in December 2019, which dipped to 840,000 subscribers in January this year.
The report states that the total number of wired broadband subscribers stood at 19.14 million back in December 2019. This number dipped to 19.08 million subscribers in January this year marking a decline of 0.27%. The mobile broadband subscribers, on the other hand, increased from 642.19 million subscribers in December 2019 to 653.71 million in January 2020 marking an increase of 1.27%.
Despite a marginal dip, Reliance Jio maintained a clear dominion in the industry with a total of 377.41 million subscribers. Jio was followed by Bharti Airtel with 144.77 million subscribers, Vodafone Idea with 117.95 million subscribers, BSNL with 24.91 million subscribers and Atria Convergence with 1.54 million subscribers.
Overall, Reliance Jio took home the biggest piece of pie. The company captured 56.05% of market share. It was followed by Bharti Airtel with 21.50% of market share and Vodafone Idea with 17.52% of market share.
