Reliance JioPhone 2: Launch date, price, full specifications, and more
Even though India's smartphone user base is growing, the entry-level segment (under ₹5,000) was largely been ignored. This changed with Reliance Jio introducing a feature phone with smart features like LTE and internet connectivity last year. The JioPhone was a success with 25 million units sold in the country since launch. Now, Reliance Jio is looking to replicate the same with its new JioPhone 2.
"We have more than 25 million JioPhone users in India. We are now taking the JioPhone to the next level, with added capabilities and functionalities," said Mukesh Ambani at the company's annual general meeting last month. Reliance Jio says it is set to hit 100 million user base on JioPhone devices in the "shortest possible time."
Unlike the original JioPhone, all new JioPhone 2 is more expensive but comes with a different design language. Doing away with the T9 keypad, JioPhone 2 looks very similar to BlackBerry with its QWERTY keypad and four-way navigation pad. There are minor specifications upgrade and supports popular applications like WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube.
