Reliance Jio's new smart feature phone, JioPhone 2, went on sale in India today. Priced at ₹2,999, the JioPhone 2 was available through flash sale on Jio.com from August 16 12PM IST. The second flash sale for JioPhone 2 will be held on August 30 on Jio.com at 12PM.

Unlike the last year's JioPhone, there's no refundable security deposit scheme on the JioPhone 2. To purchase the new phone you need to visit jio.com. Choose the JioPhone 2 and enter your pincode and proceed to check out. Here you will need to enter your personal details like name, email ID and mobile number. Select the payment option and make the payment. On successful transaction, you will receive a confirmation over the email and SMS.

Since it's a flash sale, you will have to be very fast with the process. Reliance Jio hasn't disclosed how many units it will be putting up for the sale. The phone is currently available exclusively through Jio.com.

Reliance JioPhone 2: Full specifications
Reliance JioPhone 2 has a 6.09cm (2.4 inch) TFT display with QVGA (320x 240 pixels) resolution. The screen now supports landscape mode for better multimedia experience. Running on KaiOS, JioPhone 2 is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor (chipset unspecified) along with 512M RAM. It comes with 4GB built-in storage and supports expandable storage up to 128GB via a microSD card.

In the camera department, it has a 2-megapixel sensor on the rear and 0.3-megapixel VGA camera on the front. The rear camera also supports video recording. In terms of connectivity, Reliance JioPhone 2 supports dual SIM, 4G LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1 with BLE, GPS, and NFC. The smart feature phone is powered by a 2,000mAh battery.

The new Jio smart feature comes with a fresh design featuring a QWERTY keyboard and four-way navigation pad. JioPhone 2 also comes with voice assistant which supports English and a range of Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, and Punjabi. The voice assistant allows users to search on Google, open native apps, call and even compose SMS.

Reliance JioPhone 2 also comes with a range of premium Jio apps like JioXpressNews, JioMusic and JioTV among others. Users can also make video calls through pre-installed JioVideoCall.

Unlike JioPhone, the newer iteration supports dual-SIM connectivity. This means users run Jio network and other operators' network as well. The slot 1 supports Jio SIM and slot 2 lets you use any other operators' 2G SIM.

Reliance JioPhone 2 also supports popular applications such as Facebook and YouTube. The company will be rolling out WhatsApp support to JioPhone users in the coming weeks.

Reliance JioPhone 2: Data plans
Jio is offering three data plans starting at ₹ 49 under which customers get 1GB of data with 28 days of validity. This plan also includes free voice calls, unlimited data and subscription to Jio apps. The ₹99 plan offers 14GB of data with validity of 28 days whereas ₹153 plan comes with 42GB of data with same the same validity.
