Samsung launched the Galaxy M30s in India today. The new smartphone succeeds the Galaxy M30, a popular mid-range Samsung phone in India. Galaxy M30s is a major upgrade over the M30, especially in the battery and camera departments. Let's compare the two Samsung smartphones.
Design and Display
Samsung Galaxy M30s and Galaxy M30 are identical to each other. Both the phones have Infinity U, a dewdrop-like notch, on the front and edge-to-edge screen. The back design also looks very familiar with Blue colour panel with pill shaped fingerprint sensor. Galaxy M30s however offers a gradient and glosst finish.
Samsung Galaxy M30s features a 6.4-inch full HD+ sAMOLED display. The predecessor also has a 6.4-inch full HD+ display.
Camera
Galaxy M30 was one of the rare mid-range Samsung phones to come with a triple-rear camera setup. The phone features 13-megapixel f1.9, 5-megapixel depth and 5-megapixel 123degree sensors. On the front it has a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
Samsung Galaxy M30s, however, offers much better camera specifications. While it still has the triple-rear camera setup, Galaxy M30s sports a 48-megapixel camera sensor with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and 5-megapixel depth sensor. The camera specs brings Galaxy M30s on par with Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro and Xiaomi Mi A3.
Performance
The highlight of is undoubtedly its 6,000mAh battery. Samsung claims to offer 29 hours of video playback, 49 hours of voice calls, and over 131 hours of music playback on the Galaxy M30s. The phone also comes with 18W fast charging. Galaxy M30s is powered by the new 10nm Exynos 9611 processor with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB storage.
Samsung Galaxy M30 also comes with a big 5,000mAh battery. It supports USB Type-C and is powered by in-house Exynos 7904 processor with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage.
Samsung launched the Galaxy M30 successor at a lower price. Galaxy M30s is priced at ₹13,999 for the base model (4GB+64GB) and ₹16,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant. Galaxy M30 launched at a starting price of ₹14,990 for the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It also comes with the same 6GB+128 configuration which retails at ₹17,990.
