Some millennials think they are too boring to be hacked: Report

Doesn’t matter what sort of security they might be using for their laptops or PCs or even their phones, one in every three millennial thinks that he/she is far too boring to be hacked by a cybercriminal

While online security is vital for millennials looks to find their ‘Digital Comfort Zones' while they work from home, a Kaspersky report shows that over a third of them (37%) think they are far too boring to ever become a victim of cybercrime.

The global study by Kaspersky titled ‘More Connected Than Ever Before: How We Build Our Digital Comfort Zones', delved into studying changing character traits in a world that is having to incorporate more and more technology to survive.

The study revealed that millennials think they are too boring for cybercriminals but 36% say that they should be doing more nonetheless to strengthen their digital security. However, this security upgrade is not the most important thing on their to-do list.

Thanks to the new work from home norm, the average daily time spent online is 7.1 hours a day, this is up by 1.8 hours per day as compared to what it was at the beginning of the year. Around 49% of the millennials say that all this time online has made them more aware of their digital security.

Most of the time spent online is on social media and 61% say that the rise of online dating from home is a particular concern for digital security.

To battle this concern, 52% of millennials said that they only run trustworthy apps on their devices from official stores such as Apple App Store and Google Play Store, while 49% run regular anti-virus scans on each of their devices to protect themselves. However, a mischievous streak also appears in 13% of millennials, who admitted to using their neighbors' WiFi in the past without them knowing.
