This week in tech highlighted apps with the biggest social platform, Facebook grabbing the most attention. Facebook held its annual F8 conference where it announced new updates and features coming to its family of apps. Prior to this, there was good news for TikTok fans as the app made it back to Play Store and App Store.

Flipkart also teased the launch of Google's new Pixel 3a series in India. Airtel made a major change to its 'Airtel Thanks' programme with new offers and plans. OnePlus 7 continued to be one of the hottest smartphones with leaks and teasers out back and forth.

TikTok comeback

Following its win in Madras High Court for revoking ban on TikTok downloads, the app made its way back to Play Store and App Store. TikTok was facing a potential ban in India due to complaints filed against pornographic content on its platform. TikTok is a video sharing platform where most of its users belong in the teenage group.

Facebook F8 2019

Facebook's F8 2019 conference witnessed announcements made on the main app getting a major redesign. Facebook Messenger will also be revamped into a lighter and faster app. Facebook-owned WhatsApp and Instagram will also get updates like algorithm-based status, product catalogues, new donation sticker, and shopping from creators.

Pixel 3a Flipkart teaser

Similar to Google's Pixel event page scheduled for May 8, Flipkart also teased the same on its platform. Google is highly expected to launch its budget Pixel 3a series at the event. The new teaser hints at the Pixel 3a series launching in India at the same time.

Airtel Thanks programme

'Airtel Thanks' is now a one-stop app for bills, recharges and even content from Airtel TV and Wynk Music. Airtel also segregated plans into three tiers - silver, gold and platinum. According to their respective plans, users will get offers like Amazon Prime free membership, exclusive offers and more. Airtel Thanks was also extended to prepaid users with Amazon Prime membership.

OnePlus 7 leak

There's already a plethora of leaks surrounding the OnePlus 7 series. The premium OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to come with a curved notch-less display, pop-up selfie camera and triple rear cameras. OnePlus is also expected to launch a new blue colour model for the OnePlus 7 Pro. As for the teasers, the latest one confirms OnePlus 7 series will be water resistant but without IP rating.
