Trell clocks a 10x growth with 800% increase in screen time post Chinese apps ban
Trell currently has more than 45 million downloads and more than 20 million active users.
Following the Indian government banning 59 Chinese apps late in June this year, home-grown lifestyle community commerce app Trell has witnessed a huge surge in total screen time on the app - an 800%.
Trell is a lifestyle blogging platform that allows users to create short three to five-minute-long original content videos in their native languages. It witnessed a huge spike in user base as well with five million new content creators from Tier 1 and Tier-2 cities. The platform has grown 10X since the ban and currently has a total user base of more than 45 million.
Popularly known as Video Pinterest for Bharat, Trell is a platform for users to share their experiences, recommendations and reviews across various categories including health and fitness, beauty and skincare, travel, movie reviews, cooking, home-decor etc. Additionally, the platform also allows users to earn rewards, goodies and vacations through its interface.
The app has also shown how audiences in which part of the country consume and create what sort of content. For example, north and northeastern cities share a common interest in personal care, fashion and food. Users in the south share their passion for recipes, gadgets and yoga.
Around 62% of Trell’s users come from Tier 2 and smaller cities and Trell also recently launched its platform in three new languages; Marathi, Kannada, and Bengali making the total count to eight languages including Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam.
Over the next few months, Trell also plans to launch various new features and tools on the app such as ‘Talk Show Hosting’, ‘Reaction Video Maker’ to help the content creators gain more traction and create new meaningful content.
