Jhunjhunwala had joined Truecaller in 2015 as the VP of Product. Truecaller said that he led the platform's evolution since then. In 2020, he was appointed as Chief Product Officer.

“We wanted a leader like Rishit who can connect deeply with customers, employees and partners alike with his 6 years of extensive experience within the company. This is important as India is closest to the heart of the company with over 60% of our users from India. This is a natural fit for Rishit who will lead the India business to greater heights with his exemplary leadership and ability to bring in innovation,” Alan Mamedi, CEO and Co-Founder, Truecaller said in a note.

Jhunjhunwala's appointment comes after Truecaller announced 200 million active users in the country. The company also revealed it had more than 270 million active users globally. Evidently, India is one of the biggest markets for Truecaller.

The company earlier this month launched a new platform for helping users to share their location with trusted contacts and inform them about their whereabouts in case of an emergency. Called Guardians, the app is said to have been designed with women's safety in mind. The application is available to all users for free, though.

In October last year, Truecaller announced features such as Call Reason, SMS Translations, and SMS scheduling. The features set will be available on both Android and iOS.
