Elon Musk now holds substantial stake in Twitter Inc. and has already started taking his role seriously. Musk had originally asked his followers whether he wants an Edit button on Twitter, and had floated the poll. While the poll is still on, Twitter's new CEO took to the microblogging site , warning people of choosing their option carefully.

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal quoted Elon Musk's original poll tweet and wrote, “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.” If you wonder why he says the consequences could be important, know that Elon Musk with its 9.2 percent stake in the company is now Twitter's largest stockholder. Hence, Musk's decision could play a key role in Twitter's CEO.

Twitter CEO asks to vote carefully

The Tesla CEO had earlier posted a Twitter poll, asking people if they want an Edit button. In a bid to drop some humour, the options on his poll read “yse” and “on”, which obviously meant “yes” or “no”.

Another reason why the Twitter CEO had urged to vote carefully was because of Musk's prior tweet on the same lines. Elon Musk had previously tweeted a poll, asking whether people believe if the micro-blogging website rigorously adheres to the principle of free speech. He himself had told that the consequences of the poll will be important and hence vote carefully. At the time, a total of 70 percent of respondents voted “No”. This was soon followed by the news of Elon Musk buying a 9.2 percent stake in the company.

The other big development from this story is that Twitter could be finally giving us an “edit” button. On April 1, Twitter from its official account has tweeted that it was working on the much-awaited “edit' button. While many considered it as an April fools prank, the company followed up with an answer, “ We can't confirm or deny but we may edit our statement later.”

If the the “edit button” indeed comes to Twitter, it remains to be seen how the feature gets implemented. Twitter's rival platforms feature an edit button or their posts. At the moment, if you want to change something in your tweet, you will need to delete the post and re-post it.
