Twitter Dislike Button is coming to an iPhone near you, but NOT in the way you wanted!
Twitter dislike is going to be globally expanded and be soon available on your iPhone, check out the details
On February 4, Twitter announced that more users globally will get the new Twitter feature called Twitter Dislike. This new feature allows users to show their displeasure to a tweet by giving it a thumbs down or dislike. Twitter has been testing this feature in isolated locations for a while and now it wants to expand its understanding of dislikes by letting more users access this feature. The feature will be available to both web users as well as iPhone and Android app users.
However, there are two caveats. First, the Twitter Dislike feature is only available on tweet replies and not original tweets. And the author of the tweet will not see the dislike option while everyone else will see it. At the moment, Twitter is using this feature to test out user perception and understand how it might be received. The dislikes also do not affect the tweet's reach or reduce the number of likes like it does to other platforms like YouTube and Reddit.

Twitter posted through its official Twitter Support account on Thursday, making the announcement about the new Twitter feature of Twitter Dislike. “We learned a lot about the types of replies you don't find relevant and we're expanding this test –– more of you on web and soon iOS [iPhone] and Android will have the option to use reply downvoting,” the tweet read. It further added that the downvotes are not public and are only intended to help inform the company about the content people consider relevant and appropriate for the platform.
Twitter first announced the Twitter Dislike feature in July 2021 when it said that some iPhone users will see an option to upvote and downvote certain tweets. This feature was initially assumed to be applicable for all tweets but so far it has only been available for tweet replies and not the original tweet.
As per its announcement, the analytics of the Twitter Dislike feature will be private and neither the tweet author or the viewers will be able to see total downvotes or dislikes on a certain tweet. Further, unlike YouTube dislikes in the past, it will not restrict the reach of the videos or reduce the number of likes as with Reddit downvotes. This feature is purely meant to get Twitter a better understanding of the preference of their users and the kind of content they do not like. So far, Twitter could only estimate the likes of the users due to the like button. But it appears that with this new Twitter feature, the company will be able to build a better user understanding.
