Twitter down! Software glitch disrupts services
Twitter down! The micro-blogging website suffered disruption after a software glitch.
Twitter Inc.'s social network was down for some users on Friday, with reported outages of the service spiking around 12:30 p.m. New York time, according to Downdetector. Some users were unable to post tweets on Twitter's web and mobile versions. “The presence and scope of any customer impact has not been determined at this time, but we will provide an update as soon as we know more,” Twitter said on its service status website. Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform, showed nearly 15,000 user reports of outage.
Twitter Inc said on Friday it had fixed a software glitch in its micro-blogging website that had disrupted services for several thousands of its users. "We've fixed a technical bug that was preventing timelines from loading and Tweets from posting. Things should be back to normal now," the company said in a tweet.
Earlier, Twitter had said on its status page that it was facing an elevated number of application programming interface errors, a set of protocols for building and integrating application software. It said, “Detected increase API 500/400 errors v2 endpoints: Identified - We're experiencing an elevated level of API errors starting around 17:41 UTC and are currently investigating. The presence and scope of any customer impact has not been determined at this time, but we will provide an update as soon as we know more.”
Over 40,000 users had reported outage of the service on Downdetector, a website which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform.
