Uber, last week, piloted its Uber Connect delivery service in India starting with four cities, which includes Kolkata, Jaipur, Guwahati and Gurgaon. This week the company is expanding its newly launched service to five more cities.

Starting today, Uber's package delivery service will also be available for residents in New Delhi, Noida, Hyderabad, Chennai, and in Chandigarh. This brings the total number of cities to nine.

Uber said that similar to on-demand trips, customers will be able to continue monitoring the trip's progress prior to pickup, en route, and at the dropoff. Customers can also share the delivery status with the recipient of the package.

If you are new to Uber Connect, here is a step-by-step guide for you to use it:

Step 1: Download the Uber app from the App Store or Google Play on your smartphone. Open the app and create your account.

Step 2: Once you have logged in, add your pickup and delivery address. Once you do so, the Uber Connect option will appear in the Uber app as a new option in the vehicle selection scroller.

Step 3: Now, you will be prompted to agree to package delivery terms and conditions. Confirm that your item complies with those terms and request delivery.

Step 4: You will receive a notification once the driver is on their way to pick up your package. You can contact the driver directly for any special pickup or drop-off instructions.

Step 5: You can use the “Share My Trip” feature with your recipient so they can track the delivery and meet the driver to collect the package.
