Watch: After 6,000 attempts, gamer beats Mario in less than 5 minutes

A US based gamer known as Darbian has set a new world record by completing Super Mario Brothers in just 4 minutes, 57 seconds, 627 milliseconds.

A US based gamer known as Darbian has set a new world record by completing video game Super Mario Brothers in just 4 minutes, 57 seconds, 627 milliseconds.

Darbian finished 66 milliseconds faster than the previous record set by a gamer in 2014 called 'i_o_l' who completed the game in 4 minutes 57 seconds and 693 milliseconds.

A video showing Darbian playing the game, with details like his heartbeat, time taken for each level was uploaded by Twitch TV, a live streaming video platform owned by Amazon.com.

The gamer later answered questions on Reddit explaining the strategies he followed during the speedrun.

Darbian also has a Youtube channel where he regularly uploads trips and tricks to be followed for speedrunning.

Super Mario Brothers is a 1985 platform video game developed by Nintendo. It was chosen as the No 1 game by Imagine Games Network, a rating company, in its list of top 100 games of all time.
