WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram back after brief outage

The cause for the outage remains unknown.

Facebook's family of apps, which includes WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram suffered a brief outage on late Friday evening for users across the globe including in India. Users across the globe reported being unable to log in any of the three apps or share messages on the messaging platform. Users also reported issues with their Facebook News Feed wherein the featured failed to refresh.

According to Downdetector, issues in all three platforms began at around 11PM IST. However, it was resolved quickly with users being able to use the three services at around 11:30PM. Downdetector too showed that the outage had been resolved.

The news was also confirmed by WABetaInfo, the blog that tracks development in WhatsApp.

Facebook hasn't commented on the cause of the outage yet.
