WhatsApp Last Seen feature: The Facebook-owned service is currently working on several new features, some bringing major changes to the app like multi-device support and some visual changes like chat bubbles, emoji reactions, and so on. Apart from this, the company is also working on bringing improvements in WhatsApp privacy features, according to a recent leak. This includes the infamous WhatsApp Last Seen feature, as well as other privacy settings in the app.

According to a recent leak shared by feature leaker WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp Last Seen feature is about to get a privacy improvement. This means that users, who could previously set the visibility of their Last Seen on WhatsApp to Everyone, My Contacts, and Nobody, will now be able to set it to ‘My Contacts Except...' as a fourth option. For readers who are unaware, WhatsApp Last Seen feature allows users to see the exact time when a person was last active on WhatsApp.

While WhatsApp hasn't revealed or confirmed the upcoming changes so far, the leaked screenshot shows the new option, which looks similar to the setting to hide one's WhatsApp Status (temporary 24-hour story) from specific users. While many users disable the Last Seen feature completely to maintain WhatsApp privacy for themselves, the new setting might come in handy for those who only want to hide it from a specific person.

The leaker also mentions that when a WhatsApp user excludes a contact using this setting (effectively hiding their last seen from them) they will not be able to see that contact's last seen as well. This means that the new settings will work in a similar manner as they do at the moment, when set to Nobody. The app is also working on bringing the same ‘My Contacts Except..' privacy setting for the Profile Photo and the About section as well, according to the leaker, who says these features should be available in a future update.
