In 2022, WhatsApp expects its increased participation in effective governance and efficient citizen engagement by city and state administrations. It says it could lower barriers for citizens to access credible, authentic and useful services.

Digitization could help small and micro businesses in the post COVID situation. “Our free-of-cost WhatsApp Business App offers small and micro businesses tools and features, which can help them build a digital-storefront and service their customers better. This digitization has offered entrepreneurs across India, especially women in rural India democratized access to customer bases and helps them grow and scale their business, further bridging the gender digital divide,” says WhatsApp.
Businesses could adopt multilingual chatbots to enhance their reach in a geographically and linguistically diverse country like India.
WhatsApp also suggests by building a smooth payments service in India by enabling access to digital payments, digital banking services, micro-finance, and promoting easy and secure transactions with service providers and businesses. WhatsApp Pay is said to play a key role here.
