WhatsApp has been actively working on intoducing a bunch of new features on its platform. This week we saw the Facebook-owned messaging app adding a camera shortcut and animated stickers to its platform. We also saw the company's payment service being suspended in Brazil in a week after its launch.
Here's is what changed in WhatsApp this week:
Animated Stickers
WhatsApp is planning on adding animated stickers to its Android and iOS based apps. As per a report by WABetaInfo, animated Stickers will be implemented in three parts. First is the possibility to view animated stickers and by extension save and send all received animated stickers. Second is the possibility to import animated stickers from third parties and the third is the possibility to download default animated sticker packs from the WhatsApp Store. The animated stickers are available to select users at the moment.
WhatsApp Pay suspended in Brazil
WhatsApp's payment system was suspended in Brazil almost a week after launch. Brazilian central bank in a statement said that rolling out the service without proper analysis could damage the country's payment system.
New camera shortcut
When WhatsApp introduced Messenger Rooms shortcut in the chat in the beta version of the app earlier this month, it removed the Camera shortcut from the menu. Now, the company has re-introduced the camera shortcut in the chat window. This feature is available in the latest version of its Android beta app.
