Windows 10 will be available worldwide on July 29 as a free upgrade: Microsoft
Microsoft Corp said on Monday its new Windows 10 operating system will be available worldwide on July 29, as a free upgrade for users of the most recent versions of Windows.
It's official: Windows 10 will be available worldwide on July 29 as a free upgrade for users of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
The world's largest software company had earlier said Windows 10 would be released this 'summer'.
Windows 10 is Microsoft's attempt to win over mobile users and features a new mode called 'Continuum' which allows for a seamless transition of the user interface no matter which device you're using -- a 4-inch phone to an 80-inch LED display. It also features a brand new web browser called 'Edge'.
Keeping the upgrade free is Microsoft's attempt to get as many users as possible to upgrade from older versions of Windows. The company also said that Windows 10 for other devices such as smartphones would be available later this year.
